Beautiful Assisted Living and Memory Care
Senior Living in Frederick, Maryland
Somerford House Assisted Living - The active and independent residents who live at Somerford House enjoy our beautiful, comfortable community situated next to a lake and with a gorgeous view of the mountains. Just steps away from a charming market and ice-cream parlor, we offer spacious accommodations, gourmet meals, full-service housekeeping & laundry, local transportation to recreational & social activities, pharmacy services, and physical, speech and occupational therapies.
Somerford Place Alzheimer's/Memory Support Services - We also offer assisted living specifically for residents with memory impairment due to dementia or Alzheimer’s disease. We promote residents’ individuality and maximize their independence in a secure, comfortable environment. Our residents are active, and we encourage family to participate in the caregiving process. Our specially trained staff helps our residents maintain, and even sometimes regain, their lives back. We help make every moment matter for residents and their families.
Five Star Chef Competition
Earlier this month, Chefs from our community were carefully selected to compete in the inaugural Five Star Chef Competition, held in Washington D.C with Five Star's Chef Brad Miller. The challenge: work with a team to create an unforgettable meal with a mystery ingredient, all in under an hour. Find out which team can serve up an unsurpassable challenge and win the competition!
Annual Duck Roundup at Somerford Place
Being adjacent to a beautiful lake, every year we have ducks who build their nests around our building. One that we believe to be the same one every year, builds her nest in an interior courtyard. This way her eggs and ducklings are safe from predators, but once they hatch, she has no way to get them out.
So our staff rounds up Mom and babies and take them out to find their way to the lake. This year when 9 of her 11 eggs hatched, she was frantically looking for a way to get them out. So we had our annual "duck roundup!"
